Whiners

I know, I know
It happened to you
Do you know? Do you know
You happened to it?
All you needed to know
Was revealed to you
In the first five minutes
Too bad that infatuation
Dims perceptions
Especially in the early moments
Of meeting with the one
Who is going to do
The things to you
That you whine about now.

He said, she said
None of it matters
Only your present feelings of
Entitlement provide
The luxury of your spoiled
Retrospective introspection
Droning on when no one is listening
If you were running for your life
As it once was
From a Sabertooth tiger
Or a grizzly bear
You'd only be contemplating
The next boulder to jump over
Or the next stream to forge.

You could easily be wronged
In those days by a
Branch too low or betrayed
By loose gravel
Much worse than any
Emotional transgressions
You hold close in your
Tragic Heroism
Problem with you is
You're nobody's lunch anymore
And if you were
You'd stop whining
And get moving.
